JRF opening under Wellcome Trust - India Alliance funded project at RGCB | Freshers eligible

Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology's (RGCB) Disease Biology Research does innovative research in cellular and molecular mechanisms of human, animal and plant diseases. The program is designed to make the institute a world-class research establishment in molecular and medical aspects of human, animal and plant disease biology integrating theory, modeling, simulation and experiential science encompassing disciplines such as biology, genetics, chemical biology, immunology and many other disciplines.
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for two positions of Junior Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Dr. Rakesh S Laishram to work each in the Wellcome Trust - India Alliance funded project entitled "Specificity and mechanism of Star-PAP mediated alternative polyadenylation in gene regulation" and DBT funded project entitled "Regulation of 3'-end processing in oxidative stress response and cardiovasculat disease" at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.
  • POST : JRF
  • ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS : Master's degree in any branch of biology/ biotechnology with a good academic records and a strong interest in research.
  • AGE : Below 35 years as on 15th October, 2013.
  • EMOLUMENTS : Rs 12,000/- + 20% HRA in the I and II years; Rs 14,000/- + 20% HRA for the rest of the years. Or Rs 16,000/- + 20% HRA in the I and II years; Rs 18,000/- + 20% HRA for the rest of the years for CSIR/ UGC - JRF (or equivalent) candidates.
  • DURATION : Five years for Wellcome Trust - India Alliance funded project and three years for the DBT funded project or till termination of the project (whichever is earlier).
Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview. Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format (www.rgcb.res.in/downloads/advnew.doc) with a photograph, a copy of full resume and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 15th October, 2013. Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.
