DBT funded project at IVRI notifies for a JRF opening | Freshers can apply

Indian Veterinary Research Institute or IVRI is located at Izzatnagar, Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh state. It is India's premier advanced research facility in the field of veterinary medicine and allied branches. The institute continues to play an important role in quality control and potency testing of immunobiologicals to various stakeholders with a good liaison with industry. In the liberalized scenario, to my mind this represents the inherent and fundamental strength of IVRI. Kisan Mela and Pashu Vigyan Pradarshini and other extension activities including KVK, ATIC, Helpline, etc. play a key role in technology transfer mission of the institute.
A walk-in-interview is scheduled to be held at Veterinary Bacteriology and Mycology division of the Institute on 25.10.2013 at 11.00 AM for engagement of one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in DBT funded project entitled “Identification of potential vaccine candidate antigens of Clostridium chauvoei”. The position is purely temporary on contractural basis and is co-terminus with the project. There will be no provision of absorption/ re-employment in IVRI/DBT on termination of the project. No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the interview and no separate letter will be issued.

ICGEB invites applications for Research Associate || Fresher's eligible

The Delhi component is located within the ICGEB Campus in South Delhi, which comprises an area of 10,000 square metres. It is situated alongside the Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Sanjay Van in a bush forest area. The Laboratories comprise a main building, a Guest house facility, Bioexperimentation Unit, BSL-3 Facility, and a number of greenhouses for agriculture related research.
The ICGEB extension laboratory, covering an area of over 3,720 square metres, has been created to decongest the workspace in the existing building. The National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) has been established as an autonomous institution by the Government of India, under the aegis of the Department of Biotechnology. This is the first institution in India explicitly devoted to research, training, translation & service and capacity-building in biomedical genomics.
It is located in Kalyani, West Bengal, India, about 50 km. from Kolkata. Connected to Kolkata by highways, expressways and railways, it takes about one and one-half hours to reach Kalyani from Kolkata.

Project Description:
Oral cancer is one of the deadliest cancers in Indian population. The majority of the oral tumors do not respond satisfactorily to available treatments or quickly become non-responsive. This has prompted us to undertake an investigation on the biology of Oral-Stem-Like Cancer Cells (Oral-SLCCs). Stem-like cancer cells are believed to be associated with tumor initiation, propagation, metastasis, recurrence and resistance to therapy in a variety of cancers.

Educational qualification: MSc or equivalent in Biotechnology/ Biochemistry or in any other biology stream.
Desirable Qualification: Prior experience of human cell culture maintenance is desirable.

  • Lead relatively simpler projects or modules of larger projects, being responsible for team management and deliverable quality, under the guidance of a Project Manager
  • Active participation in and contribution to team discussion on problem solving, brainstorming, effective approaches to deal with project-specific issues, etc
  • Client interaction including client call handling, e-mail communication and project structuring (to understand the project and clients objective)
  • Skill sets Required
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Should be well versed secondary and primary research methodologies.
    • Should be well versed with MS Office
    • The candidate should have excellent presentation skills
    • Should have experience of handling a team
    Education & Experience
    • B.Pharm with relevant work experience/M.Pharm/PhD (Pharmaceuticals)
    • B.Tech in Biotechnology with relevant work experience.
