Position: Scientist II, Bioinformatics
Job Description:
This position require an individual as a key partner to the customers in the academic & research fields, in the set up of instrument and analysis systems for next generation sequencing platforms, and in the analysis and interpretation of the scientific data derived from those systems. The position is field based.
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Assist customers in setting up instruments and computational infrastructure, and configuration of analysis pipelines.
  • Problem-solve to overcome technical challenges (including Linux and network operations, NGS and general bioinformatics pipelines).
  • Assist customers in designing and conducting experiments with the use of NGS platforms in their laboratories, and analyzing the data.
  • Work with other internal teams to continually improve the bioinformatics capabilities and workflows associated with next generation sequencing to support use of the platform in general and in strategic application areas.
  • Train users on various application pipelines and workflows, in person and online.
  • Provide technical and applications assistance in response to customer inquiries.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Minimum Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or Life Science.
  • Intermediate level of experience in Linux systems administration.
  • Demonstrated programming skills in Perl, Python, Java, C/C++ and/or shell scripting, and relational databases.
  • 2-4 years of direct experience in life science informatics.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills required.
