Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility, (Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics):
- The Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF) Centre, under the Biotechnology Information System Network (BTIS) program (funded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology) & Centre of Excellence in Bioinformatics (Funded by Department of Higher Education, Government of U.P) at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Lucknow, are well equipped with various hardware and software, (Servers for Database Application, Desktop Machines, and high speed Internet Connection, Exome Horizon, MATLAB, Discovery Studio, DNA STAR etc.). One thrust area of these centers are to popularize the application of Bioinformatics by organizing training programs and conducting Seminars/Workshops/ Students, which is being conducted on a regular basis. In addition, centers are actively involved in conducting research on Computational Biology, Molecular Modeling. Database Development, Comparative Genomics and Proteomics, Biological data acquisition, creation and development of programs and databases by the users.

The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) is the new state-of-the-art R&D satellite of the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), which also includes under its umbrella the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), the largest cancer hospital in Asia. ACTREC has the mandate to function as a national centre for treatment, research and education in cancer. TMC is an autonomous grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act (1860) and the Bombay Public Trust Act (1950).

Position: Junior Research Fellow
Title of the Project: The Size & Shape Control Mechanism Of Golgi Apparatus
Funding Agency: DBT

Duration of the Project: Three years from the date of Appointment
Consolidated Salary: Rs. 12,000 + 3600 (HRA 30%) = Total Rs.15,600/- per month.

Qualifications:

The project involves mathematical model development in simulation biology based methods for organelle size research.
The candidate must have a M.Sc. in Bioinformatics or similar from a recognized University with minimum 60% aggregate marks.
The candidate must have proven skill of programming.
Experience in Microscopy and an exposure to basic biology would be highly preferred.
